Blue Mountain Coordinated Transportation Coalition

Program Description:

The Coalition goal is to develop a coordinated public transportation system to serve Walla Walla County residents with special needs.  Although the Department of Human Services is not a direct provider of services, the Coalition is deeply involved in the needs of Walla Walla County residents.

How We Can Help:

By fostering cooperation and collaboration, programs will be able to provide more rides to a greater number of persons with special needs.

Coalition Members:

  • Members are representatives of transportation brokers and providers, local government agencies, service providers and advocates, and users/consumers of special needs transportation.

  • Membership is open to all interested persons.  We are always seeking representatives of rural areas, school districts, and users for our Coalition membership. For more information email Verna Story.

FAQs:

Q.    Who are the people with special transportation needs?

A.    People with disabilities, children, the elderly and those with low incomes.

Q.    Do you provide rides?

A.    Not directly.  Our objective is to foster better cooperation and collaboration among public and private sector service providers that will result in more rides being available.

Q.    What are the problems addressed by the Coalition?

A.     Eligibility limitations, lack of information sharing between agencies,  insufficient or lack of funding, dispersed and low-density population, liability issues, compensation, and confidentiality concerns.
