Program Description:

The Walla Walla County Traffic Safety/DUI (Driving Under the Influence) Task Force promotes sober driving, safety belt and child restraint usage and substance abuse prevention programs within Walla Walla County.   Task force membership is open to the general public.

DUI Victim's Panel

This monthly program for court ordered DUI offenders offers a non-traditional way of educating the DUI offender as to the possible results of "driving under the influence."  Non-DUI offenders may attend with permission from the coordinator.  Those attending will hear from offenders who have changed the course their lives were taking, as well as from victims of alcohol-related crashes, emergency personnel,  or from the families of victims. The information and stories shared with the participants is done so with the hope that they might change the future.  New speakers, victims and/or offenders of alcohol related crashes are always needed.  If interested in becoming a member of the panel, please contact the coordinator.

Walla Walla Valley Child Passenger Safety Team:

New to the Walla Walla Valley (includes Dayton area), this group of citizens provides programs and training on proper child seat installation as well as conducting car seat check up events where parents may bring their child and car seat in for inspection by trained technicians.  The Child Passenger Safety Team meets monthly, in conjunction with the Traffic Safety Task Force, the 3rd Wednesday of each month to plan events for the coming months and review new materials on child passenger safety.  The Team is made up of local citizens and law enforcement and emergency service personnel.  Businesses or private individuals seeking additional information on children's car seats are encouraged to contact the Child Passenger Safety Team.   Team members are available for individual car seat checks.

"Every 15 Minutes":

This intense and emotional program, coordinated by the Traffic Safety Task Force, is presented to high school students as a way of relating the harsh realities and lasting consequences of drinking and driving.  Volunteers are always welcome to help with the annual presentations.
