RESIDENTIAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE

TREATMENT FOR OFFENDERS PROGRAM

(Located in the Walla Walla County Jail)

Program Description

R-STOP provides:

  • Chemical Addiction Education:  Focuses on the need for change on the individual and family system as a whole using a positive approach to treatment by building on the strengths of each inmate and his/her family to develop self-awareness and self-esteem.

  • Life Skill Planning: The individual Life Skill Plan addresses deficiencies within the seven life domains of the R-STOP participant.  The seven life domains are: housing, education, recreation, spirituality, and financial, medical, and emotional needs.

  • Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT):  Moral Reconation Therapy is a systematic, step-by-step treatment strategy designed to enhance self-image, promote growth of a positive, productive identity and facilitate the development of higher stages of moral reasoning.  MRT significantly raises moral reasoning levels, life purpose, and other positive personality variables.  The term "conation" was used in clinical psychology prior to the extensive use of the term "ego". Conation relates to how one consciously makes decisions.  MRT represents a redirecting of decision-making from higher stages of moral reasoning.

A.    At this time, R-STOP is funded as a treatment program for non-violent offenders only.
